Hua Chenyu — Mars Concert Tour 2024

Visual Design, Animation

This animation was designed for Chenyu Hua’s Mars Concert, specifically for the song Quasimodo’s Gift. Drawing on the classic literary character of Quasimodo, the animation explores themes of embracing suffering and finding solace in solitude. In the visual design, the Buddhist concept of “The Eight Sufferings of Life” was incorporated.

Abstract illustration of a pair of human eyes with red irises, surrounded by green and blue lines, set against a blurred background.

At the song’s climax, monstrous figures representing each suffering appeared on the screen. As these creatures dissolved, the singer’s eyes emerged, radiating acceptance and serenity—symbols of the strength and peace gained from confronting pain, with symbols of his fans woven in them. Chenyu Hua himself appears within these eyes on the screen, merging with the animation to create a powerful emotional connection that resonated deeply with the audience.
